Telco...Where men move machines

The statistics are proof enough of the prowess and size of the Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company. TELCO is India's largest and the world's sixth largest automotive industry.
Telco commenced operations on the 1st of September 1945 when Tata Sons Ltd. bought the Tatanagar workshops of the East India Railways at Jamshedpur. Nine years later, the company diversified into the automotive sector with technical and financial assistance from Daimler Benz AG which lasted till 1969 after which the vehicles were sold under the Tata banner.
Today, Telco employs over 30,000 people in it's Pune, Jamshedpur, Lucknow and Dharwad works. In addition it serves a vital educational responsibility by recruiting trainees every year. And I was lucky enough to be amongst that group. Sure, I lost out on a good six months of college life, but it's been worth it.

Telco makes vehicles, period. They make machines that get us from one place to another. And over the past few years they've made vehicles that take the soul on a trip as well...The following gallery features the range of vehicles Telco produces, a tribute to the development of a Truck manufacturing company that now makes cars a country can be proud of...Be patient as they load and check out the Safari and the Indica at the bottom...

NB: All Telco vehicles are denoted by upto 4 digits, the last two represent one tenth the engine horsepower while the digits before that represent the vehicle's ideal load carrying capacity. Therefore, the 709 has a 90 hp engine and is designed to carry a load of upto 7 tonnes.
